Artlight Nature
A photographic journey through a new perception of nature
by CEZ Photographer
Artlight Nature explores an artificial representation of nature, its colors and textures, which is far from the wild, spontaneous and untouched concept of vegetation we are used to. This project shows a different way of perceiving nature, where the spotlight is on unusual chromatic nuances, geometric intersections and lightning patterns within plants and flowers - which mostly remain unseen in the natural world. These details have been reinterpreted so as to blend into a dreamy artwork of vivid colors, that almost resembles an imaginary trip on acid.
Our perception of reality is becoming progressively influenced by the endless ways we have to influence how we see our surroundings, photography being one of them. This project is an attempt to make use of technological means to artificially highlight some aspects of the natural world. However, Artlight Nature does not aim at denaturalizing nature via technological means, but rather at redirecting the attention of the observer towards the natural beauty that lies within the smallest details and points of view. The distorting power of technology is entirely subdued to the innate elegance and sensuality of mother nature.
Yet, this project depicts nature as if it was locked inside a museum, preserved in-vitro under artificial light, as if untamed plants and flowers had been transposed from a contaminated and corrupted outside world into an hypothetical safety bubble, where they become an artwork, their beauty remains frozen in time and they can be closely admired forever.
